My Story

Hi there, I’m Kay Cote, and I’m thrilled to share a piece of my journey with you. As a multifaceted creative and the founder of Amplify EDM, music has always been the heartbeat of my life. It’s been my sanctuary, my escape, and ultimately, it saved me during one of the hardest financial times I’ve ever faced in 2023-24.

When I moved to Austin, TX, I was going through a very difficult time. Financial setbacks seemed to hit me from every direction. I still vividly remember the tears streaming down my face as I sat in my car, grappling with the guilt of spending my last dollar on groceries. The anxiety and depression were overwhelming. I was scared.



But in the midst of all that fear, I found myself gravitating toward the local music scene. Spending time around music lifted me out of that dark place, even if just for a moment. Slowly, I started to connect with a group of artists who welcomed me with open arms. Suddenly, Austin began to feel like home. It wasn’t long before those connections sparked the creation of Amplify EDM – a community I founded as a place of refuge, inspiration, and support for artists and music lovers alike.

For as long as I can remember, music has been my peace. Whether I was performing or simply listening, it’s where I’ve always felt most at home. Music has carried me through my hardest times and has been there to celebrate my greatest joys. Each song is like a chapter in the soundtrack of my life, filled with beautiful emotions and memories. From playing piano in high school to singing in the college choir, to teaching dance fitness, performing has always been where I feel most myself.

Think about the times in your life when music has touched your soul. Maybe it was singing in the shower or that one track that always makes you feel alive. Music is an expression of who we are.

Now, imagine a world without it. Imagine if all of that were taken away.

Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality for many artists. Due to a lack of funding, unfair pay, or other obstacles, so much incredible talent is lost as artists are forced to abandon their craft. I’ve experienced this firsthand, fighting to get payment for the artists I’ve worked with this past year. It breaks my heart to see how many artists are struggling just to keep creating.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

I’ve been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – to produce my first track with one of my biggest inspirations in the EDM scene, Steve Brian. Steve is a renowned German DJ and producer who has been in the industry for 20 years, collaborating with some of the most prestigious labels. We connected online, built a friendship, and now he’s offered me the chance to provide vocals for a new track.

Additionally, I’ve connected with John Lynx, a producer in the Chicago scene, who has generously offered me studio space in Los Angeles from August 30 to September 2.

Out of sheer gratitude, I’ve decided to document this incredible journey as a source of inspiration for other artists. I want to show the raw, real story of my experience and encourage artists to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges.

But to make this happen, I need your help. To cover travel expenses, production costs, and the creation of this video series, I’m aiming to raise $5,125.

Why is this important?

Because artists are struggling, and so much talent is slipping through the cracks due to a lack of resources. Imagine a world without Bach, Cher, or Prince – it would be a loss beyond words. Who knows where the next musical genius might be? They could be on the verge of giving up right now.
